Shelf Life (Kallisti) Michael Davies
Shelf Life (Kallisti) - by Michael Davies is apt for an advertising billboard as Kallisti means ‘for the most beautiful’ in Greek, and the image is of an ancient object of desire - the golden apple of Eris, Goddess of discord. Here it is twinned with a young couple on a switched-on but unused socket.
“The photograph captures the moment this grouping came to life for me, when sunlight cut across and plunged the man into the apple's shadow.”
Michael Davies
Michael Davies' recent work explores the theme of mythological couples using; The language of Surrealism's 'exquisite corpse'; D.I.Y. building materials; L.E.D. lights; pictograms and interior decoration.
